I’ve talked to many people about giving a little of what they make to a good charity and most say they haven’t thought about it or don’t know where to give.

Many of us earn more money than we ever imagined possible.  I’m sure some people reading this are already giving generously, but others may not have given it much thought or taken the plunge just yet.

As a guy in my fifties, I’ve started to wonder about the significance of my life. Helping those less fortunate is one of the things I think about. Like most of my friends, neighbors and client’s I feel good about my finances and could easily afford to make a gift. At a minimum, give (to your favorite charity) what you spend on a good weekend of eating and drinks. Or think bigger if you’re so inclined.

If you have a college education and live in the Chicagoland area, you are likely to be part of the wealthiest 10% of people in the U.S, and top 1% in the world!      LET’S COUNT OUR BLESSINGS.

For many, the anxiety or excitement that went into climbing your financial mountain to success or getting a high paying job has lost a little luster thanks to good fortune and planning. Now you may be wondering what’s next? How can I make an impact or grow my life legacy?

For me, God intervened this Spring as I was asked to join the Board of Directors for Journey’s The Road Home.

Video- What’s JOURNEYS all about

This privately funded, not-for-profit organization is helping people far less fortunate than you and me.  JOURNEY’S provides shelter, food, mental health counseling, services housing and more to those that are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless in suburban Cook County.  All things that we take for granted.

Please consider joining my cause and donating a few dollars. We are currently in a capital campaign to raise $8 million to build a new facility to help provide a much nicer facility with more shelter and services.

I WILL MAKE A $50 MATCHING CONTRIBUTION TO WHATEVER AMOUNT YOU DONATE.

I’m passionate about helping people that are far less fortunate than me. Most of us never experience the kind of health problems that Journeys helps people with every day. We take so much for granted!

Would you please consider giving a little (any amount is greatly appreciated) to benefit some less fortunate people? DONATE

Also, let me know if you are interested in volunteering in this wonderful organization.

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (NIV)

Shoot me an email if you donate, so I can send in my match.
