How Long Has It Been Since You Rehabbed Your Home?

This is a guest post by Elisa Niesen and Lynne Gerding, Realtors and Renovators based in Naperville, IL,

Spring has finally SPRUNG and if you’re from the Midwest then I’m sure you were as miserable as we were! Every year it is a time of preparation and a revival of the old to make things new. We couldn’t think of a better investment or time spent than sprucing up the place you call home. Your HOME deserves IT. If you do it right, maintain the updates, you won’t have to do it often and will receive years of enjoyment from the effort.

Instead of telling you how and what to rehab, we want you to ask yourselves the following important questions. They will help you find out if you are in need of a fresh look! Also, knowing the answers helps Decorators & home remodeling companies accomplish your “wish list,” and deliver a look that exceeds your expectations.

1. Has your life or lifestyle changed recently? Maybe children have moved out?

2. Is there a special place in the home for you to do the things you like?

3.Would you enjoy your home more if the space was configured differently? Maybe an open kitchen/family room concept?

4. Could your home be more conducive to having friends and family over? For entertaining?

5. Could your outdoor space, patio or deck be more adequate for summer enjoyment?

6. Would you like to have a more modern and conveniently planned kitchen?

7. Could your bathroom or powder room use a facelift? HUGE bang for your buck!

8. Could you use more storage space? The more organized you are the more space you have!

9. Do you like your neighborhood but not your house?

10. If you had to sell your home today, would it compare to other homes on the market?

The more “YES” answers you have, the more you will benefit from updating your home. If you don’t know where to start, you’re not alone. Many homeowners have lived with the same look for so long, they are not familiar with the new updated looks in home design.

When brainstorming new looks, a great way to start is by collecting magazine pictures of things you like and searching the internet for ideas to help describe what you want and envision. Elisa and I love searching Pinterest and Houzz!
